We were thrilled to make history with you as we opened CPKC Stadium, the world’s first purpose-built stadium for women’s professional soccer – and our new collective home. We are so proud of the work that our players and staff continue to do to make Kansas City a leader in global soccer. We wouldn't have been able to accomplish all of this without your support, trust, and dedication to the team and to our city.
The Berkley Riverfront is a special place nestled between the Kansas City skyline and the Missouri River, and we knew it had the potential to be the next great public waterfront space, like the Chicago Riverwalk or Washington, D.C.’s Wharf, right here in Kansas City. CPKC Stadium was our first step in doing our part to help Kansas Citians reengage with the Missouri Riverfront.
Today we announced another game-changing step, building upon the momentum and excitement around the unveiling of CPKC Stadium. Our plan for continued investment in Berkley Riverfront Park is to develop a mixed-use district that will extend Kansas City to the water’s edge and provide a one-of-a-kind, pedestrian-focused experience for KC Current fans, Berkley Riverfront residents, and visitors alike. Along with adding hundreds of multi-family residential units to the neighborhood, the project will create new public gathering and recreational spaces for all Kansas Citians – including a new town square and a riverfront promenade – bringing life and vibrancy to the Missouri Riverfront. Food and beverage offerings will showcase local restauranteurs, creating a new destination for the community. The public gathering areas will be programmed year-round, with family-friendly events like movie nights, food festivals, fitness classes, live music, and more. Matchday or not, our focus is to create an unforgettable experience for all. The project will break ground at the end of this year, targeting a 2026 completion date.
